man.. europeans know how to make some sexy music. if you vibe with stuff like bloc party, placebo, 120 days, tgr lou (you know, that big city-bright lights shit you can dance/have sex/do drugs to), etc.. these three germans are definitely right up your alley. with three releases under their collective belt since 2001, this is definitely their most defined and strongest release to date. check out the video for my favorite track, all those city lights, below:

RJD2 - since we last spoke (2004)

rjd2 knows how to make music. he knows how to make incredibly diverse music. yet he goes under so many people's radars it's criminal. take one part wax tailor, one part gorillaz (minus the novelty), one part dj shadow, and add in a lot of musicianship and soul.. that should help give you an idea of what's going on here. i've had this album since it came out in '04, and it still sounds as fresh as it did the day i first heard it (especially "making days longer".. incredible). put this one on in your car at night, roll the windows down, and let rjd2 take you on his ride (and don't forget to come back here and thank me). safe.

ariel kill him - named after you (2006)

i'm gonna go out on a limb and assume there aren't many 25 year old swedish guys who have something like seven releases under their belts since the year 2000. well, david lehnberg (also known as ariel kill him), is the only one i'm aware of. self recorded and produced, his latest album brings to mind atmospheric/electronic acts like m83, air, dntel, and even the postal service (also if you dug that bear colony album a couple of entries down, you'll probably dig this). this is a great fall/winter album for all you mood music people out there. fall in love.
