northstar - broken parachute EP (2008)

personally, one of the most traumatic break-ups in music was northstar. i loved this band. saw them like 11 times, and they were always amazing, down-to-earth and genuine dudes who played great shows and great music. post break-up, there had been talks with speakmusicmedia to release an unreleased/b-sides compilation and it took nearly four years to actually release. the release was limited to 1,000 copies, so it's very unlikely that you'll find it now. there quite a few gems (everything) on here.

portugal. the man - 2003 ep (2003)

this will be numero dos. this is a self-released ep of some portugal. the man songs that never saw a "proper" release, but these were floating around the interwebs for a long time. i'd go ahead and say this is rare, so snatch it up. (songs include: clips comprehend and pelicans, along with three more). i'd go ahead and say clips comprehend is one of my favorite tracks from these guys. shit is hot.

manchester orchestra - you brainstorm, i brainstorm, but brilliance needs a good editor (2005)

manchester orchestra have been on the rise lately, touring constantly in support of their lp, "i'm like a virgin losing a child." they've toured with the likes of kevin devine, brand new and kings of leon in the past year and have been starting the create a buzz. this ep was released before 'virgin' and although it's not out of print, it can be hard to come across. this ep is worth checking out for 'the procession' alone, the standout track on a pretty solid ep.
