about time i heard something new from these guys. their last album, pneuma, was literally the first album i posted about here on weworemasks, and was my #2 of 2007. brilliant album, and this song is no different.
man this album is going to be a sleeper this year. hopefully enough hipsters get on this tip immediately. i'm loving what i hear. anticipation building.
all aboard the hype train. got my hands on this album sampler for the knux's upcoming album, "remind me in 3 days," which is out october 28th on interscope. (contrary to what the sampler says). these dudes are gonna be picking up a lot of steam in the next few months and if this sampler is this hot, there's no way this album won't deliver. these dudes are gonna have run up on the cool kids' asses for hottest upcoming hip-hop duo.
this song just goes off and makes me feel like it's my fuckin' birthday. anyone else excited for l.a.x.? it'll easily be one of the best hip-hop albums to come out this year. even though this is one of the most unlikely pairings, i think the two work well with each other. remember when travis was in blink 182? dude's come a long way, haha.
staying out all night + grinding on strangers + making love + rinse + repeat = astra moveo.
you might remember astra moveo from a post i did when we first started up the blog. anyway, the colorado beast are back with two new tracks, "kill ya stereo" and "shake the heavens". put on your sunday best before hitting the play button, because i promise you'll be grinding on the first person you see once they start (and we all like to look our best for a good grind session).
if you dig innerpartysystem (see a few posts down), the faint, etc.. definitely get into this. tossing in a disco/funk edge, they somehow manage to both dirty up and bring a fresh edge to the electro/rock genre. hopefully a proper release sees the light of day sooner than later.. but in the meantime, you've got these new tracks, plus i'm including the four songs they have up for download.
these guys are definitely an exciting up and coming act. the buzz has been building around them for a while now, and they're definitely living up to it. i love the fact that they put just as much effort into the visual aspect of their sound as they do their music. i keep hearing amazing things about their live show, but that couldn't get me to go see them this past week. i mean, i would have had to see the white tie affair, the medic droid, and kill hannah. not to mention the 16 year old scenesters that would have been in full effect. bad music + bad people = no thanks. i'll wait till they're on a good tour.
anyway, if you haven't jumped on the bandwagon by now, download this ep and prepare to start grinding on whatever is closest to you.
man i love this song. it's off of their highly anticipated new album, elephant shell. hopefully i'll catch one of their sets at sxsw, if not, they're playing a show here at the end of march. such a fun live show. get stoked.
i recently got an email telling me to check these guys (and girl) out. definitely a good call, considering we've gotten a few less-than-stellar requests in the same vein. rails to russia is a fresh group out of brooklyn, new york, and they play the type of rock meant for stadiums and festivals. not in a shitty radio rock way though. as for the sound, fans of muse, mute math or something similar to those groups could definitely get down to this. the band is currently busy recording a new album and perfecting their live show. definitely excited to hear more from them in 08. in the meantime, get on these tracks.
yes, this is the somewhat brand new single from cut copy's anticipated new album ghost colours due out in late march. great track. also included is the boys noize remix. get on it.
so i didn't even realize that i did it, but the two previous posts i made were both released on portland based slowdance records.
while i'm at it, i'd just like to hype the shit out of this label. they deserve you're undivided attention and your support. they've released music by and are home to acts like rescue, the velvet teen, the new trust, and kissing tigers. if you haven't heard any of those bands, you're really doing yourself a disservice. how they've gone under the radar for so long is beyond me. get in the know chump, i promise there's something there for everyone.
colour revolt is a wonderful band who is releasing a new album, plunder, beg and curse, on april 1, 2008. this is the first (single?) song that's been released off the album, and it is equally wonderful.
looks like we broke ten thousand total hits. not too shabby, considering we started this little corner of the interweb back in october. we also haven't promoted much. anyway, we here at wwm would just like to thank all you lovely people for hitting us up daily and telling your friends about us (keep it up!). also, a big, big thanks to the artists/musicians/photographers who have contributed and thanked us for the hype. you're the reason this is here begin with.
everyone keep on keepin on and spread the word. we're working on new things and new features. and just a reminder, let us know if you think we should be hyping something we're missing out on. we're pretty fucking awesome, but perfect we're not. holler!
